2026 Sunset Surfer Color Run
Friday, October 2, during school hours. Every student can participate, and every pledge helps support Sunset students.

During school hours
Students can walk, jog, run, or dance around the course. A color-detour route will be available for students who do not want color tossed directly on them.
Fundraising dates
September 18–October 9
Pledges are flat-rate donations. Online and paper donations must be finalized by October 9.
Open to every student
Students may participate even if they do not collect pledges. Students who do not want to participate can discuss alternatives with their teacher.
What the Color Run supports
TK–3rd grade
Funds will support new P.E. and recess equipment, along with PTO-funded programs and events such as Field Day, family events, garden improvements, teacher grants, and more.
4th and 5th grade
Funds will help reduce the cost of camp for participating students and support camp scholarships.
How fundraising works
- Create your student’s PledgeStar page. Use it to share secure pledge requests with family and friends.
- Collect flat-rate pledges. Fundraising is open from September 18 through October 9.
- Join the fun on October 2. Students should wear running shoes and clothes that can get dirty.
- Finalize donations by October 9. Complete online payments or return the paper pledge form and cash or checks to your student’s teacher.
Make checks payable to Sunset Elementary PTO. Include the student’s name and teacher’s name with paper donations.
What to expect on run day

- Clothes that can get dirty or colored
- PTO-provided sunglasses and a bandana in the student’s grade color
Teachers will provide additional grade-color information.
Watching and cheering
Parents, guardians, grandparents, and other family members may cheer from the designated spectator area in the middle of the track.
Color powder can drift into the spectator area, so visitors should dress accordingly.
Color options
Students can use the color-detour route to avoid having color tossed directly on them. Powder will still be present in the air, so students using the detour may be lightly colored.
About the color powder
Sunset will use Chameleon Colors powder. Review the manufacturer’s information for ingredients, use, cleanup, and other product questions.
