The purpose of the Sunset Elementary Parent Teacher Organization is to promote cooperation and goodwill within our school community, including parents, guardians and staff, in all matters affecting the students of Sunset Elementary. We continually recruit and encourage parent participation in a variety of volunteer opportunities throughout the year. A primary function of the Sunset PTO is to provide fundraising projects to support needs that are otherwise underfunded, that benefit the entire student population, and that support teachers and staff in providing academic excellence.


PTO membership is open to any parent or guardian of a student enrolled at Sunset Elementary, as well as to employees of the school. Membership dues are determined prior to the start of each school year. For the 2021-2022 academic school year, Sunset PTO Membership is $20 and includes access to our exclusive Online Directory.


In addition, membership includes one vote per family towards the election of board members in the Spring. We encourage PTO members to attend our General Meetings, held twice a year. 



If I join, do I have to...

Go to meetings?

No. Attending general meetings is encouraged, but optional.


Volunteer or spend a lot of time at school?

Nope! Joining the PTO is not the same as volunteering. If you choose to volunteer, we would LOVE to have the help, but volunteering is not required.
