Grab your bow ties and fancy hats -- it's Gala Time!

We're ready to saddle up and don our most dapper Derby look! It's that time of year again and we're delighted to bring back this annual event. Our dedicated gala committee has been busy planning what is sure to be an amazing night for us to come together and raise funds for our school.

As Sunset's largest fundraising event of the year, Sunset Gala provides much-needed income for a number of important programs like physical education, campus beautification, technology upgrades and grants for teachers, science and our school library.

This year, we're pulling on our seersucker suits and fancy fascinators, floral dresses and preppy plaids, and we're off to the races! Enjoy dinner, dancing and an abundance of curated themed baskets to bid on.  Every dollar we raise benefits our kids and school community.

This year's start time: Doors and bar service open at 5:30.

• Mystery Wine Pull** ($15) Feeling adventurous? Enter to win one of several mystery bottles of wine. Purchase a raffle ticket today and "pull" your mystery wine bottle at the event.

All ticket sales will offset our expenses so that ALL funds raised will go back to Sunset!

**Mystery Wine Pull raffle winners must attend Gala and be present to participate. All items will need to be picked up at the end of the evening.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Gala?

The Gala is our largest fundraiser of the year, and will be held Friday, March 21st at the Casa Real Event Center. This is an adult-only event and an opportunity for parents to come together to celebrate and raise funds for our school.

What do the funds from Gala go towards?

The PTO works closely with our principal, teachers and parents to provide funding for programs that go beyond the scope of our school budget and that benefit all of the students at Sunset. Currently the PTO is helping to fund physical education, campus beautification, technology upgrades and grants for teachers, science and our school library. A small amount of the money raised goes toward community-building events such as movie nights, family bingo and the pancake breakfast.

What are the class baskets I’m being asked to donate to?

Each classroom is assigned a Gala Basket Coordinator, who is responsible for collecting goods and services or monetary donations, so that we can put together amazing auction baskets. These baskets are a highlight of the evening and bid on by gala attendees during our silent auction.
Please note: you must be present to bid on auction items, and all awarded items must be taken home at the end of the evening. We apologize that we cannot hold any items beyond the night of the event.

What is the schedule for the Gala?

Doors open at 5:30 pm with a No-Host Bar in three areas of the venue, along with passed appetizers. This will be a great time to browse the silent auction items and enter your bids. Dinner service will begin around 6:30pm and the live auction will begin shortly after. Of course, it wouldn't be a party without some dancing! 

What do I wear?

We want you to be comfortable! Some people love the opportunity to dress the theme -- Kentucky Derby race day!  Wide-brimmed hats and sporty blazers, or floral dresses and preppy plaids are just some examples.  Or some prefer to wear a suit and tie or a cocktail dress, while others are happy in more casual attire. You do you!

When do tickets go on sale?

Tickets will be on sale January 27th at 12:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased from My Account menu under "My Forms/Paperwork." You will also have the option to purchase raffle tickets and sponsor a teacher or staff member. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and subscribe to our newsletter to get reminders when tickets go on sale, as well as other gala-related updates.

What raffles are available? Do I need to be present to win?

In addition to the Silent Auction items, this year there will be a Mystery Wine Pull, which is the only option that guarantees you'll go home with a prize.
Please note: you must be present to win the Mystery Wine Pull and all awarded items must be taken home at the end of the evening. We apologize that we cannot hold any items beyond the night of the event.

Can we select our food option?

When purchasing tickets, you will be asked to select a dinner option. Our menu selections this year include chicken, salmon, and a vegetarian option, which can be modified for a vegan diet.

My family is new to Sunset, and we don’t know anyone. Will we be wallflowers?

You will not be left standing on the sidelines, we promise! This is a warm, welcoming community and the gala is a great opportunity for you to meet other parents and start to feel like you're part of the Sunset family. In general, we make an attempt to seat you with other families in your student(s) grade level, so that you have a chance to mingle with other parents in your child's grade level.

Can I sit with my friends?

Yes, when you purchase tickets, there will be an area to list those you would like at your table. We make every attempt to honor your request. You can also choose to purchase a Table for Ten to insure that you and your friends are seated together.

How will money be raised at the event?

The bulk of the funds are raised through our live and silent auctions. Whether you make a small bid on a raffle or bid on a silent auction item -- or join forces with friends for a live auction item, there is always something for everybody at the gala! We also offer sponsorship opportunities, which any company or individual can take advantage of.
